Painter Georg Oswald Konstantin von Behrens, GOKvB
1893 – 1972
Nationality: Russian, Latvian, Swiss
Born in Riga (Latvia) 23-03-1893
Died in Bern (Switzerland) 27-05-1972
He was originally an officer in the Imperial Russian Army (1st Lieutenant Artillery), and fled to Switzerland in 1917 because of the revolution.

There is much to see in this painting, it’s like a story:
the two swimmers; the man with the open shirt pointing to a terras, ‘lets have a drink there’; next to him a full breasted woman with her round sunglasses; funny noses; an artistic dressed man pulling his tired dog; a man looking on his watch; a sky like van Gogh’s paintings … it looks like a comic strip.
It is different from Behrens other paintings (landscapes mountains) that makes this painting also unique.

Sizes H 66 cm x W 47 cm (69 cm x 50 cm with frame).

Beautiful condition.

Jonkheer mr. R.J. H. Boddaert (1939), a dutch man of nobility living in Rotterdam confirmed that Georg Behrens was a friend and the portretpainter of the family Boddaert and that he has painted this piece.
Toon Wildeboer (1945-2022) dutch painter and taxateur, confirmed this is a painting by G. von Beherens.

The painting goes with 2 new lamps. The painting is dark in colors. If the lamps are on the colors are vibrant and light.
